I’ve signed up for the Ford Ironman Louisville in August 2010. It’s a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a marathon that you have to finish in 17 hours or less... it’s going to be a challenge.
As part of the race, I’ve also agreed to take the Janus Charity Challenge, which helps Ironman athletes raise awareness about great causes.
The organization that I’m supporting is SMILES. Research indicates that mentoring is one of the most effective strategies in keeping at-risk students in school through high school graduation. SMILES is an organization that provides mentors to kids that need them in Fall River and New Bedford, Massachusetts and their surrounding communities, which have seen a high drop-out rate.
Please help me in supporting this great cause.
